FAYETTEVILLE - Sheridan held off a seventh-inning rally by Benton to win the Class 6A state championship Saturday evening at Baum Stadium.
The Yellowjackets led 10-4 heading into the bottom of the seventh, but a three-run home run by Brinson Williams with two outs pulled the Panthers within 10-9.
Despite the five-run inning, Sheridan stuck with its starter, Tyler Allen, who struck out Colby Johnson to end the rally.
Sheridan controlled the game from the start, scoring three runs in the first thanks to a two-run single by Hunter Hicks and an RBI single by Lathan Wylie.

FAYETTEVILLE - A little over a year after an EF4 tornado ripped through its town, Mayflower will return home from Baum Stadium with a state championship trophy.
Tyler Godwin threw a complete game and struck out 10, leading the Eagles to a 6-1 win over Fordyce in the Class 3A state title game. He was named the game's MVP.

FAYETTEVILLE - A pair of three-run innings was enough for Bentonville to win the Class 7A baseball state championship Friday night at Baum Stadium.
The Tigers scored three runs in the second and third innings and Kasey Ford threw a complete game en route to a 6-5 win over Conway. It is Bentonville's second baseball title, with the other coming in 2002.

Nash Winters' RBI single with two outs in the sixth gave Armorel a 10-0 run-rule win over Taylor Friday afternoon at Baum Stadium.
The hit capped a 4-for-4, 2-RBI game for Winters, but Ashton Kennedy was named the game's MVP. Kennedy gave up two hits and faced 19 batters, one over the minimum, while striking out four.

The play beat Arkadelphia 4-3 and ended the Badgers' quest for a third straight state title.
