Thursday was a big scrimmage night at Springdale Har-Ber as four teams – North Little Rock, Siloam Springs, Bentonville High and Har-Ber – all saw action just eight days away from the official opening of the season.
Following split-field scrimmages for the first hour-and-a-half, the fun really began, pitting Bentonville against Siloam Springs and North Little Rock with Har-Ber.

One defending state cross country champion will have to rebuild, while the other appears to have reloaded for another competitive season.
Fayetteville's boys had all five runners finish in the top 20 en route to winning its state title last fall, but four of those have graduated. The Purple'Dogs, however, can regroup around sophomore Camren Fischer, who was last year's state runnerup.
Fayetteville, however, still has some competitive runners. Senior Ben Farrell and Joel Burgess and sophomore Nicholas Pilkington all finished in the top 30 last year.

SPRINGDALE — Zak Clark didn’t see the 2010 Shiloh Christian team that won its third consecutive state championship behind quarterback Kiehl Frazier. And despite the Springdale High coach’s Bulldogs beating Shiloh Christian 20-7 during the varsity portion of a benefit game on Tuesday night, Clark had high praise for this year’s version of the Saints.
“I wasn’t around for their last state championship run … but it’s the best Shiloh team that I’ve seen,” Clark said.

Although it was a scrimmage and the final tally wasn't kept on the scoreboard, Springdale defeated Shiloh Christian 20-7 during the varisty portion of a benefit game at Jarrell Williams Bulldog Stadium on Tuesday.
The two teams from the same town but different conferences — the Saints play in the 4A-1 while the Bulldogs are in the 7A-West — ran 85 hurry-up, no-huddle plays during the two quarters both varsity squads were on the field.
