Heritage baseball heading for Florida

The Rogers Heritage baseball team will get to soak up a little Florida sun over spring break, but the War Eagles will also face one of the top players in the country in the Florida League High School Invitational in Sanford, Fla.

The War Eagles will open play in the tournament against Arlington Country Day of Jacksonville, Fla. The Apaches are led by senior Javier Baez (SS/C). The right-handed hitting Baez is listed by several publications as one of the top prep players in the country. He was chosen to play in the Aflac Classic showcasing the top high school players in the country.

Heritage will the Apaches on Monday night at 7. The War Eagles will then play Maclay Prep of Tallahassee on Tuesday at 4 and finish pool play Wednesday against St. John Neuman of Naples, Fla. on Wednesday at 4. The War Eagles will finish up play on Friday.

Defending Class 7A state champion Bryan is also among the tournament field.
